Dear Neighbors and Friends:
Your 2025 Subscription packet for the Greater Pittston Regional
Ambulance has arrived. If you are a renewing member to our service,
we thank you for your continued support for the emergency services that
we provide to our community. If you have not previously subscribed
to our organization, please take a few moments and read this pamphlet
to understand how a subscription to our service will benefit you, our
organization and our communities.
The Greater Pittston Regional Ambulance is a nonprofit, community based
emergency ambulance service provider. The organization was
formed in 1952 by members of our community who recognize the need
for a reliable, community-based ambulance service. Over the years, the
organization has evolved from a simple first-aid provider to one of the
premier emergency ambulances in the State, providing advanced life
support (paramedic service) with a community-minded focus. Over the
years, we have merged with several other community-based ambulances
including the former Jenkins Township Ambulance and the Exeter
Community Ambulance. A merger of our organizations has created a
regionally based service which essentially operates in the Pittston Area
and Wyoming Area School Districts.
Our EMS service, like most in Pennsylvania, is not directly supported
by tax dollars. We receive no tax revenue from the communities that we
serve, nor do we receive any direct tax money from the State or Federal
governments. We rely solely on fees for service, and this subscription
drive to support our daily operations. These sources alone are not
sufficient to fully fund our ambulance service. Typically, billing for an
ambulance transport only reimburses forty (40) to sixty (60) percent of
the actual cost of providing the service. This subscription drive helps to
bridge that funding gap.
Since we are a community-based, non-profit organization, all of our
funds are re-invested into our operations. In the past year, some of the
capital upgrades that we have invested in to further enhance our care
include: (1) $450,000.00 in upgrades to our cardiac monitor system and
patient transport and securement systems. We have acquired the latest
cardiac monitors, defibrillators, and transport liter loading systems; (2)
$500,000.00 to acquire three (3) additional ambulance units to increase
our fleet size to allow better, more reliable units on the road and allow for
rotation of our fleet to promote longevity of the units. We currently have
eight (8) transport ambulances in our fleet to help keep optimum staffing
levels in our communities. (3) Overhaul of staff compensation packages
to ensure that we reward our hardworking staff and remain competitive in
the market to attract and retain the best providers.
In addition, we also provide many extra services to our communities,
which rival major metropolitan EMS services including medical standby
for events and large gatherings, community education such as CPR, AED,
and first-aid training for our schools and other groups. These services are
provided free of charge. If you have a community group or organization
that wishes to interact with our organization, please contact us through our
social media pages.
If every residence and commercial property in our communities supported
our organization via the subscription program, we would be able to come
to ensure sustainability and reliable ambulance service in perpetuity.
We Thank You for participating and taking the time to learn
about our organization and the services that we provide. If you have
